Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1
Arrive Istanbul
Transfer to your hotel in the old city. An evening walk to the Hippodrome and dinner overlooking the Bosphorus.
Day 2
Old Istanbul on foot
Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapı Palace and the Basilica Cistern, with a licensed guide and a long lunch in between.
Day 3
Bosphorus & bazaars
A Bosphorus cruise between two continents, the Spice Bazaar and the Grand Bazaar, then an evening flight to Cappadocia.
Day 4
Cappadocia sunrise
Optional hot air balloon at first light over the fairy chimneys. Göreme open-air museum, Uçhisar castle and Pigeon Valley afterwards.
Day 5
Underground & valleys
Kaymaklı underground city, Devrent and Paşabağ valleys, a pottery workshop in Avanos, and sunset over Rose Valley.
Day 6
Pamukkale
The white travertine terraces and the ruins of Hierapolis, with time in the antique pool.
Day 7
Back to Istanbul
Return flight and a free afternoon — Karaköy, Galata, or simply a Turkish bath before dinner.
Day 8
Departure
Transfer to Istanbul airport.

What is the best time to visit Istanbul?
April to June, September to November is generally the best window for this trip in terms of weather and sightseeing. We can also advise on off-season dates where the same itinerary costs considerably less.
Is the Turkey Journey suitable for families and senior citizens?
Yes. We adjust drive times, add rest days and choose hotels with lifts and accessible rooms when the group includes children or elderly travellers. Mention it in your enquiry and the itinerary is rebuilt around it.
